Solar Drive is a project aimed at initiating a revolution in net metering based Solar power generation in Sri Lanka. The project plan to achieve this by eliminating the top barrier against rapid adoption of Solar in Sri Lankan homes and businesses, high prices.
Our prices would be revolutionary while not compromising on the quality!
Duration : 4 months (starting from May 2nd)
Target : 100 Solar PV solutions across country.
Objective : To prove that solar solutions can be provided (for profit) for much lower prices than currently prevailing in the market.
Goal : To initiate a general price reduction in the solar market, which will then make people to adopt solar much rapidly, triggering a steady growth of clean energy generation in the country. Massive growth in the market in this manner will be a win win for consumers and suppliers alike.
Whether you are a consumer, supplier, technician, investor or just a solar fan, you can join hands with us and contribute towards this project which is set to shape our future.
Join us now! Lets do this together.
A business. We will prove that profitable and quality solar solutions are possible for much lower prices than currently available in the market. Charity alone can not save the world, right technologies combined with sensible, correct business models can change the world rapidly. However, the primary goal of Solar Drive project is not just profits.
Big or small, doesn’t matter. It is the consumers and supply/demand which defines a market. This initiative is to regain the rightful place for consumers. Some who are used to higher profit margins may be upset with us initially but in the long run, the growth in the market will be beneficial to everybody.
Solar Drive project is supported by many parties including several of solar vendors and implementors by pooling all their resources and managing them wisely and by reducing wastages we can reduce prices. Settling for reasonable profit margins is another main factor.

Of course! EVs need cheap electricity to be profitable and clean electricity to be effective towards environment. This project aims to get both. Most of vehicles are getting charged in Green Frontiers fast charging network at the day time. Only about 10% getting charged at nights. This means we can actually make our vehicles to run by sunlight! That’s an opportunity we just shouldn’t waste.
That would be mission accomplished! 😛
1) Prices in this table can be subjected to frequent change based on market price fluctuations, Exchange Rates, Taxes/Levies. Please monitor this page frequently for the most recent prices. For those who register for the project and reserve an installation,
prices at their sign up date will be applied.
2) The column ‘Current Bill’ indicates the electricity bill amount of a household for which this solution is most suitable. We do not advocate to zero your electricity bill. First 90 units are very cheap and cost you only around Rs 800 per month. So it’s better to pay that amount to CEB rather than to invest lot of money to save that small figure. Suggested solutions are for save the units beyond 90. Example the 1 kW system above is best for households with 200 units of monthly usage (Rs 4500 bill). The solution will cover at least 110 units of it.
Reducing the bill to around Rs 800 per month.
3) If your location is far away from Colombo, (say, around 100km or more) there may be a additional cost for transport.
4) Solar Panels will come with minimum of 12 years product warranty and a minimum of 30 years linear performance warranty.
Inverters would come with minimum of 5 years warranty.
Extending the warranty period of an inverter to 10 years will cost Rs 8000/= while extending the warranty to 15 years will cost Rs 12 000/= additionally.
